The archives of the Suez Canal provide a fundamental interest, both from the point of view of the history of technology and engineering (the Suez Canal was the first to have been dug by mechanical means), and that of the naval and economic history. The inauguration of the city of Port-Fouad was held in the presence of H.M the King Fouad on December 21st, 1926.
